Maha Cyclone Effects In Gujarat:
Cyclone Maha, the fourth cyclone this year in the Arabian Sea, is set to intensify further into an ‘Severe Cyclonic Storm’ in next six hours, said the India Meteorological Department (IMD). The depression that had developed in the Comorin Sea intensified into a cyclonic storm on Wednesday evening.
Cyclone Maha was located 10.6N 73.5E over Lakshadweep and adjoining area on Wednesday night. Maha continues to move northwestward across Lakshadweep Islands. It is forecast to intensify into a Cyclonic Storm on Thursday, and later intensify further into a Severe Cyclonic Storm.

Strong winds are likely over Lakshadweep area, southeast and east-central Arabian Sea. Very rough to extremely rough sea conditions are expected over Comorin area, Lakshadweep area, Kerala to Karnataka coast, southeast and east-central Arabian Sea.

Heavy to very heavy rain and thunderstorms: Lakshadweep, Kerala and coastal Karnataka.
Heavy rain and thunderstorms: Tamil Nadu, coastal Maharashtra, Goa and interior Karnataka.
Fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms: Andhra Pradesh and Andaman & Nicobar Islands.
Scattered rain and thunderstorms: Interior Maharashtra and Telangana.
Isolated rain and thunderstorms: Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura, Sikkim, Odisha, Jammu & Kashmir, Gujarat and Chhattisgarh.
Dry weather is likely over West Bengal, Jharkhand, Bihar, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Haryana, Delhi, Punjab, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh.

The Western Disturbance is located over Afghanistan and adjoining area, and affects over Northern mountain area from Thursday.

Friday and Beyond
Cyclone Maha is set to cause strong winds over southeast, east-central Arabian Sea, and very rough sea conditions over southeast and east-central Arabian Sea on Friday.

Heavy rain and thunderstorms over Lakshadweep, Kerala and interior Maharashtra have also been forecast on Friday.

Further, fairly widespread rain and thunderstorms are expected over Andaman & Nicobar Islands.

Scattered rain and thunderstorms are likely over Jammu & Kashmir, coastal Maharashtra, Goa, Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Tamil Nadu and Karnataka.

Isolated rain and thunderstorms are possible over Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan and Gujarat.
